The Bridgwater Tidal Barrier (BTB) and associated improvements to downstream banks will provide critical long term flood protection to Bridgwater and the surrounding area. Once completed the barrier, will provide flood protection to all new homes built since 2012 as well as over 11,300 homes built prior to that date. Additionally, it will protect about 1,500 local businesses as well as critical infrastructure such as schools, the hospital and strategic transport links.
